Anchors Anchors Anchors

I love all buttons with anchors. Not sure why that's such a thing, I mean, there are a LOT of buttons with anchors. But I like them, so why analyze it?

Hand Carved

These have a strange smooth chunky hand carved quality to them. They almost seem carved from bone or antler or something. I'd rather not think about it too much.

Sheriff's Star

Pink Rose

I know I bought two of these, but I could only find one. I'll find the other later when I'm not digging around for it.

Teensy Pink Diamonds

I love the chunkiness of these tiny buttons. They're like little gem shards.

Tulips or Lilies?

These tiny pink flowers are in the same shoddy condition as the elephants previously posted. They must have come from the same home, maybe there was a fire that just barely reached the owner's button stash.

Blue Lagoon

I know I said pink is my favorite, but I'm almost equally drawn to the ocean blues and greens of these buttons. I love how they look like delicious tropical candy. I want the sea salt ice cream flavor, please.

Elegant Lady Rhinestone

This is the ritziest of glitzy. I wish I could see what gorgeous gown this must have belonged to.

Oh So Eighties

Totally. I mean, like, check out those triangles, and that powdery mauve color.

Little Mints

It doesn't come across well here, but these are a lovely minty limey green. Such a perfect vintagey green. I really had to dig in the jar at the thrift store to find all three of these, but they're worth it.

Blondies

I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan of these. I love that they are so huge, and I love the shape and style, but I'm just not a fan of brown buttons. Despite that, I'm still attracted to them somehow, but I'm not sure yet what to do with them.

Assorted Pinks

Okay, these are my very favorites. It should be clear that I love pink, I have a real weakness for it.

Cutie Scotties

I really love these. I love they way they look strung together in a little bundle. I think I have to make something for my little one using them, but I'm not sure what, yet. They're awfully small, so they wouldn't make good jacket buttons. And what if they fell off and he lost them? Maybe I should just keep them safe like this.

Assorted Reds

I LOVE all of these. I don't know why I'm drawn to red buttons so much. At least I'm not drawn to Red Buttons, I guess.

Assorted Whites

I actually had several more interesting white buttons, but I guess I'll photograph those separately. It's interesting that there are so many vintage buttons like this, but you never see anything with buttons like this. What were they used for!?

Vintage Fruits

Okay, so I get the orange, but what's the yellow one? It's too round and smooth to be a lemon, so is it a golden delicious apple? A not-so-ripe peach? An apricot?

Cluster of Glitziness

There are two different kinds of black shank buttons with rhinestones, but whoever owned them originally decided to string them together anyway. Over the years, many have lost their stones, but they still look pretty all clustered together.

Teensy Elephants

These aren't in the best condition, they are obviously very old. I'm not sure what could happen to a button to cause it to be so smooshed and scuffed and scraped and sort of melted looking. I'm pretty sure these are unusable, except in some decorative way, like a wallhanging that won't be touched:

Glitzy and Rhinestony

I love this one. It kind of speaks for itself, really. I'm not sure if I want to turn it into a ring or a brooch, or just hold it and look at it a lot:

Scrolly Tortoiseshell

This one was hard to photograph. The tortoiseshell is very sparkly and iridescent, but I could only capture flat or full shine. This is the best I could do to show the scroll detail. I think I'll make a ring with this one:

Pink monsters

Seriously, these buttons are gigantic. The photo doesn't show the scale well, but they are a good 2" across. I wish I had more than three of them, but I'll think of something to do with them:

Welcome!

I've been on a button hunt lately, and I've found so many cool buttons I felt I had to share. Who doesn't love digging through a huge button jar and looking for the most interesting ones? I've done it for you here, so hopefully you find them as awesome as I do. Enjoy!
